Abstract

Under the leadership of Agha Khan III, a Muslim delegation comprising 35 prominent Muslim leaders met Lord Minto, the Governor General, on 1st October 1906 wherein some demands from the Muslim population were presented.  There was a demand for the separate election as well which paved the way for establishing Pakistan. This article aims at highlighting details, based on rare periodicals like monthly Decan Review, weekly Watan, Lahore, Aligarh Institute Gazette, the Civil & Military Gazette and archival research, how Muslim leadership and population strived hard to get the demand of separate election recognized as the Hindu and anti-Pakistan historians put up resistance against the separate election believing that the seed sawn for the separate election was from the colonial’s rules. Aside from the sources based on periodicals, the writer used many literary sources and a detailed poem of Khawaja Abdul Rauf Ishrat Lakhnavi. The article presets periodicals owned by Hindus showing abusive language for Muslims misguide their captive audiences.
